It was just last week that the Nintendo 3DS saw a system update to version 5.1.0-11U, and users have begun reporting that it has introduced far more than Nintendo confirmed.

Multiple Nintendo 3DS owners on NeoGAF have reported that it has seen varying framerate improvements across software, applications, and services.

Those spotted include Rayman 3D, Ridge Racer 3D, Sonic Generations, as well as loading times through the 3DS interface, StreetPass Mii Plaza, and Nintendo Letter Box (SwapNote).

Personally, I’ve noticed an improvement across the StreetPass Mii Plaza, Fire Emblem Awakening, and Nintendo Letter Box, so this is certainly worth an investigation.

It’s rumoured that Nintendo have increased the handheld’s clock speed, although without any official confirmation we’ll have to join the speculation for now.
