Bandai Namco Entertainment has revealed that Once Upon A Katamari is coming to Nintendo Switch.
This is the first new game in the Katamari Damacy series in 14 years, and promises to retain its “memorable playful spirit and setting in a colourful whimsical world.”
The mighty King of All Cosmos has accidentally destroyed the Earth and stars once again. To help the Prince restore the starry sky, you must roll your Katamari across time itself, collecting objects through history as you visit the Jurassic Period, the Ice Age, historic Japan and more.
In this journey across time, you will experience the series’ signature gameplay “like never before” in all-new stages, with a new magnet tool letting you pull in shiny items nearby. You can choose to play as The Prince or 68 cousins and kin who can all be customised with different colours and facial features.
There is also a new four-player competitive mode called KatamariBall, where each player is challenged to roll the katamari as big as they possibly can before exchanging their creation for points within a limited time. This mode will support both online multiplayer and offline play against CPU opponents.
Those who have save data from either Katamari Damacy REROLL or We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie can unlock a playable Young King once the game launches.
Once Upon A Katamari will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 24 October 2025.
