RiME Developer Diary Explores Designing A Puzzle Adventure


Tequila Works has released a new developer diary video for RiME, in which they recount how they had approached creating a puzzle adventure game.

Their challenge came in making it accessible and intuitive while making sure that it could still feel fun and be rewarding to play.

That resulted in designing environments and challenges that revealed information to the player through light, sound, perspective and time, rather than simply introducing text prompts. The hope is that these subtle methods will create a deeper sense of personal investment and discovery while exploring the island that your character has awoken on.

RiME will release worldwide on Nintendo Switch later this summer.
