Nintendo has revealed that Richter Belmont, Chrom and Dark Samus will appear as Echo Fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Richter Belmont is an Echo Fighter to Simon Belmont, who was announced in today’s Super Smash Bros. Direct. Echo Fighters have move sets based on other fighters, but a different visual appearance.

“Though his strength is the same, his look, voice and animations all set him apart,” game director Masahiro Sakurai explains. “Besides, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version of Simon can perform moves derived from Richter in his original games, it’s hard to say who’s really echoing who.”

Whereas Chrom is an Echo Fighter to Roy and Dark Samus is, unsurprisingly, based on legendary bounty hunter Samus Aran.

“You may have seen this coming,” Sakurai admits. “Both fighters have been highly requested. They’re each slightly different than the fighters they’re based on, so pick whoever you enjoy most.”

It was also shared that you can choose to display all Echo Fighters separately on the fighter select screen or stack them with the fighters that they’re based on. When stacked, you can simply switch between them at the press of a button.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on December 7th.
