Tuned-Out Games has announced that their retro-inspired twin-stick roguelite shooter Demons Ate My Neighbors! will release on Nintendo Switch.

It’s 1991. After a cursed VHS unleashes untold horrors on the sleepy suburbs of Fairweather Valley, the residents are turned evil.

With April and Joey’s summer now “a total bummer,” they must exorcise their neighbours from hell as they fight their way back to their haunted high school to rewind time and save the world.

The experience promises “moody ‘80s and ‘90s teen-horror with Saturday morning cartoons and a manic, humorous tone,” with the chance to team up in local co-op multiplayer to “pump, refill and spill ’em all” with your Splasha squirt guns – which come loaded with an infinite supply of holy water.

“Demons Ate My Neighbors! brings back a fun, thrilling vibe that we miss from ’80s and ‘90s camp horror,” explains Tuned-Out Games game director Kian Matthew Naderi.

“We want to take a fresh, surprising spin on a classic co-op formula by adding random levels, meta-progression, a succinct story, inspired new characters, monsters and innovative gameplay on top of a funky, campy nostalgic aesthetic.”

Demons Ate My Neighbors! will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Q3 2021.
