Nintendo has distributed another free in-game item to those playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, available through The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Tips from the Wild News channel on Nintendo Switch.
After early articles explained how you can befriend the dogs that you encounter, how to make Honey Candy, mucking around with the boomerang, and tips on how to shield surf, game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi has now provided tips on restoring rusty weapons in Link’s open-air adventure.
“Do you recognise this spot? It’s located on the edge of a lake of molten lava somewhere in the Death Mountain area. Notice the rusted weapons sticking from the earth and the Rock Octorok lurking in the background!” Fujibayashi explains.
“Those little nuisances like to suck up nearby stones and then spit them back at you, but what if I told you they can provide a valuable service, too? Simply throw in a rusted weapon when one’s hoovering up rocks, and… well, what do you think will happen?
“Surprise! When the Rock Octorok spits the weapon out, it’ll be as good as new! And really, if you think about it, the place in the picture is tailor-made for checking out this advanced technique.
“If you’d like to try it out for yourself, please accept this in-game gift of one Rusty Broadsword. The item will appear in your game if you open it using the link below. Just make sure that you either have the game card inserted or the downloadable version of the software installed on your console.
“I hope you’ll enjoy giving rusty old weapons a new lease of life!”
Nintendo once again adds that you must have obtained the paraglider before you can receive these items and that you may not be able to receive them at some in-game locations such as shrines and dungeons or on certain terrain.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch and Wii U worldwide.
