Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will receive extra story content, a “much-awaited” photo mode and a mini game.

“Our game was released on February 27th, and thanks to our players’ overwhelming response, we’ve already sold over five million copies. On behalf of the development team, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude. Thank you very much,” Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi explained in a video posted on social media.

“We released an update the other day to fix a variety of issues, and we will continue to address any other bugs and performance issues. But that’s not all. We are also planning to add more content. First, the much-awaited photo mode. On top of that, there’s another surprise coming around May. We’re planning to add a mini game.

“We hope to continue providing support on Resident Evil Requiem to live up to its positive reception. Oh… one more thing. We are planning to make extra story content!

“In this story, we will delve deeper into the world of Requiem. We’re hard at work on it now. It will take some time, so we ask for your patience and hope you’ll look forward to it. Thank you again for all your support!”

Set approximately 30 years after the outbreak in Raccoon City, this new era of survival horror will challenge young FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft to escape from the horrors that surround her and confront the tragic memories surrounding the death of her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft. You will also dive into pulse-pounding action with legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy.

We enjoyed our time with the game, concluding in our review: “Resident Evil Requiem on Nintendo Switch 2 delivers an excellent handheld experience, even if its docked performance still has room for improvement. Despite that, it remains a solid way to engross yourself in the best non‑remake Resident Evil game in more than a decade. Resident Evil Requiem blends the best elements of modern entries while once again pushing the series forward with smart gameplay additions. That result strikes a confident balance between tension, horror, and full‑throttle action. Now, if you’ll excuse us, it’s time for yet another replay.”

The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:

  • Raccoon City: Return once again to the city of disaster and despair. A midwestern city in the United States and the headquarters for the former global pharmaceutical company, Umbrella. In the face of the zombie outbreak in 1998, the government approved a sterilisation operation, a missile strike on the city in an attempt to quickly bring the situation under control—but this was swiftly covered up.
  • Grace Ashcroft: An intelligence analyst for the FBI who demonstrates intense focus and insight in deductive reasoning and analysis. Her mother’s death shook her to the soul, making her an introvert who immerses herself in work. So she heads to the abandoned hotel alone to investigate this mysterious death.
  • Leon S. Kennedy: One of the survivors of the Raccoon City Incident. With a strong sense of justice and physical capabilities to match, he has responded to numerous outbreaks since that fateful day. Now, as a seasoned DSO agent combating bioterrorism, he has returned to investigate the latest string of deaths in the Midwest.
  • Gameplay: Experience the series’ classic survival horror through combat, investigations, puzzles, and resource management. Gameplay allows you to freely switch between first and third-person views to face the horrors in a way that suits your playstyle.

Resident Evil Requiem is now available at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide. The Grace amiibo and Leon amiibo will be released at retailers around the world in Summer 2026.
