Harakka Studio has announced that their cosy rogue-lite adventure game Remnants of Yore is “coming soon” to Nintendo Switch.
In a small lost village of Saer, something strange is happening. The forest nearby has become corrupted by an unknown force, preventing people from leaving the village. When the wizard cat Yore stumbles upon the village, he is soon trapped within it and wanders into an abandoned antique store that he decides to call home and restore.
It is here that he discovers his ability to see spirits trapped in objects, some seemingly related to the forest’s recent corruption. With help from the remaining villagers, Yore decides to explore the forest in an effort to extinguish the root of the corruption and save the village.
In what is described as “a heartfelt story of rebuilding and rebirth,” you must run and repair the antique store, rebuild the town, venture into the surrounding forest to defeat corrupted entities and help spirits find peace. Your choices will shape the world and the fate of those who inhabit it.
The developer has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Manage Your Store: Manage stock, upgrade your antique shop and attract customers! You can sell the rare artifacts and antiques that you come across within the forest, learn the stories of the spirits trapped within and free them or keep them and gain powerful boons!
- Explore The Corrupted Forest: Go deep into the forest and discover its secrets. The further you go, the further the story progresses! Each attempt is totally different from the previous one, with new enemies, items, powers and zones. But beware, if you are defeated, you will lose much of your progress!
- Befriend Everyone: As you settle into your new life in the crumbling town, you’ll meet a colorful cast of characters, each with their own hopes, regrets, and mysteries to uncover. Spend time getting to know the townsfolk by helping them with daily tasks, completing personal quests, and sharing gifts crafted from the herbs and relics you find on your journeys.
- Rebuild The Town: The town has grown quiet and tired over the years, but it still holds a spark of life. Gather special materials to help the townsfolk restore their shops and homes, bringing back the charm and warmth it once had. Unlocks new stories, new friendships, and a brighter future for everyone who calls the town home.
Remnants of Yore will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide, with a release date or window unspecified.
