Reggie Fils-Aime: Virtual Reality technology “isn’t quite there yet”

While Shigeru Miyamoto may have been caught trying Oculus Rift at E3 2014, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has shared his belief that the technology “isn’t quite there yet” for the company to pursue it themselves.

“For us, it’s all about fun gameplay. That’s what we want. We want a fun, compelling experience. Right now, the technology isn’t quite there yet, in our view,” Fils-Aime commented to Associated Press.

That doesn’t mean that Nintendo themselves aren’t experimenting with virtual reality technology, when they believe it to be a viable part of their business strategy.

“Certainly, it’s something we’re looking at,” Fils-Aime clarified. “We look at a wide range of technologies. When it’s there and enables a fun experience, we’ll be there, too.”

Could we ever see Nintendo return to resuscitate the Virtual Boy?
