Devolver Digital has announced that Pikuniku will see release on Nintendo Switch, an absurd puzzle-exploration game that takes place in a strange and playful world where not everything is as happy as it seems.

From collaborative developer Sectordub, it casts players as Piku, a fresh-faced, armless outsider who must help the townsfolk face their fears, uncover a deep state conspiracy, and rebuild a cheerful community in what promises to be a delightful dystopian adventure.

With a colourful world to explore at your own pace, you must help quirky characters with their unusual requests and solve clever puzzles without harming anyone in an adventure that will see you follow an eccentric mayor that leads a village that becomes worried when their perfect world teeters on the verge of chaos.

There are also custom two-player levels that can be conquered locally in a cooperative mode, in which the second player will play as Niku.

“During the course of early development, it became clear that if we wanted to add in all the gore and violence that gamers crave it would cost a lot more money,” shares Devolver Digital CFO, Fork Parker. “And I’m not about to pay for more than I have to so get ready for vibrant colours and cute, invincible characters.”

Pikuniku will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch in 2018.
