Bethesda Softworks and id Software have revealed that their dark fantasy first-person shooter Quake is now available on Nintendo Switch.
The ground-breaking 1996 classic has been remastered and now has “up to 1080p and widescreen resolution support, enhanced models, dynamic and coloured lighting, anti-aliasing, depth of field, the original, atmospheric soundtrack and theme song by Trent Reznor, and more.”
With the chance to play through the original campaign and expansion packs The Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity, developer MachineGames has created two more expansions in Dimension of the Past and the all-new Dimension of the Machine.
The campaign and expansions can be played in 4-player online or local split-screen co-op, with competitive multiplayer matches for 8-player (online) or 4-player (local split-screen) matches – with support for crossplay across PC (controller-enabled), Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
You also have access to “free, curated, fan-made and official mods and missions,” like Quake 64, while optional gyro controls can be used alongside the control stick “for the perfect blend of immersion and accuracy.”
Quake is now available on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
