ININ Games and TAITO have revealed a special endless stage called Baron’s Tower will appear in Puzzle Bobble Everybubble!, which is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch.
“The tower is an area that appears in the story mode, and it will require you to erase bubbles that are automatically added infinitely,” the publisher explains. “Online ranking is available and divided into three difficulty levels and number of players, allowing you to compete with players from all over the world for high scores. By clearing a specific score, you will be able to progress through the storyline related to the Baron’s Tower.”
Puzzle Bobble Everybubble!’s story mode will let you play with up to four players for the first time in the series, which brings Bub, Bob, Pep and Pab to Rainbow Island, where Miniroon lives. After Miniroon starts to emit a large number of bubbles that cover the whole island, it’s up to the four friendly bubble dragons to step in and help.
Each puzzle section will be accompanied with a story intermission, promising to showcase the bubble dragon’s “unique personalities more than ever before.” To clear each stage, you will once again need to remove bubbles by connecting three or more that are the same colour with “fun and entertaining items and gimmicks” to help you along the way on your adventure.
It has been confirmed that you will be able to play one-on-one online battles against players from around the world, which will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Your ratings and classes will go up or down based on the results of your wins and losses, and you can use the Password Matching function to compete against friends and family.
Puzzle Bobble vs Space Invaders has also previously been revealed, a special game crossover to help celebrate the iconic arcade game’s 45th anniversary. In this mode, up to four players will be challenged to erase the bubble-encapsulated Invaders by stacking three or more bubbles of the same colour together while dodging their shots. You will only be able to fire your bubbles straight up, so you will need to move your character left and right like in the arcade classic.
Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 23rd May 2023.
