March 10th will once again be celebrated as ‘Mar10 Day,’ a date on which fans worldwide will remember the Italian plumber’s impact on pop culture.
Nintendo’s iconic creation has had a busy year, having celebrated 30 years since he first rescued Princess Peach in 1985’s Super Mario Bros. That occasion was celebrated with Super Mario Maker, which has since seen players create more than 6.2 million courses.
Special 30th Anniversary Mario amiibo were released, while he took to the courts in the sub-par Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. He also teamed up with Paper Mario, in Nintendo 3DS exclusive Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros.
Those adventures will continue in 2016, becoming far more competitive in Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
Nintendo encourage you to share your favourite Mario memories on social media, using the #Mar10Day hashtag. Get involved!
