Red Hook Studios has announced that Darkest Dungeon will release on Nintendo Switch next week, the award-winning gothic horror turn-based strategy RPG about the physical and mental stresses of adventuring.

In Darkest Dungeon, players lead a band of heroes on a perilous side-scrolling descent where they must deal with a relentless assault on their mental fortitude – risking succumbing to paranoia, greed, anger, or hopelessness.

Five hundred feet below the earth, unimaginable foes are the least of your worries when you have famine, disease, and darkness to deal with, delivering an experience that searches for the emotional toll that a life of adventure takes.

The downloadable content will also be available to buy alongside release, which includes The Crimson Court ($9.99) that adds a new hero class in The Flagellant, The Courtyard as a new dungeon, and more. And then there’s The Shieldbreaker ($3.99), which adds The Shieldbreaker hero class, three new monsters, and a new consumable item in the Aegis Scale.

The developer adds that the Nintendo Switch version supports touch controls and that the upcoming downloadable content, The Color of Madness, will also see release in the coming months.

Darkest Dungeon will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch on January 18th, priced at $24.99.
