You will soon be able to jump, Ground Pound, gobble, and flutter your way through Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World, as Yoshi sets out to conquer six intricately woven worlds after Kamek kidnaps the knitted Yoshis peacefully living on Craft Island.
Players can scan the new Yarn Poochy amiibo at any point to see Yoshi’s woolly companion help locate hidden Gems. And, if used when playing Poochy Dash courses, they can access exclusive, fast-paced Time Attack missions that will unlock special Poochy patterns on completion.
You can also scan any amiibo from the Animal Crossing Collection and Splatoon Collection, which will reward players with a personalised Yoshi that has been knitted to look like characters such as Tom Nook, Isabelle, Callie and Marie.
The Mellow Mode also returns to help out less experienced players, which, when activated, will see Poochy Pups sniff out secrets, attack enemies, and double up as Yarn Balls for Yoshi to throw at patrolling enemies and to make platforms to collect otherwise unreachable items.
Nintendo has also detailed more on the 30 stop-motion animations starring Poochy and Yoshi that have been created by Japanese animation studio, Dwarf. These can be watched in the Yoshi Theatre, with a new video unlocked each day that poses a question to the viewer at the end of each.
Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World will release exclusively on Nintendo 3DS in Europe and North America on 3rd February 2017.
