The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokkén Tournament will make a competitive return at the Pokémon World Championships 2017.

The Wii U exclusive has been surprisingly absent from regional and national tournaments in this competition season, leading many to believe that a decision had been made to drop the pocket monster brawler.

Now, Serebii reports that The Pokémon Company has confirmed at a Japanese Pokkén Tournament competition that it will be part of the Pokémon World Championships 2017. What remains unclear is how players will be able to qualify to participate, but we are likely to learn more in the coming months.

It was also revealed that tweaks will be made to moves and Support Pokémon in Pokkén Tournament Arcade this week, now only allowing Yveltal and Latios to be used once per match.

Pokkén Tournament is now available exclusively on Wii U worldwide.
