Tencent has announced that a Pokémon Unite Closed Beta will be made available in China next month, according to a report from 4Gamer.

Those in China can apply by answering a questionnaire accessed using a QR code posted on the game’s official website and Weibo, with those that succeed able to participate.

This is the first strategic team battle game for the Pokémon brand, in which players will face each other in five-on-five matches.

With cross-platform play supported across Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, you will need to cooperate with your teammates to catch wild Pokémon, level up and evolve their own Pokémon.

Your goal is to defeat the opposing team’s Pokémon while trying to earn more points than them within the allotted time.

Pokémon Unite will release as a free-to-start game on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch, App Store for iOS devices, and Google Play for Android devices worldwide in 2021.
