The Pokémon Company International has announced that the Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield – Lost Origin expansion will release at participating retailers around the world next month.

This will introduce the Lost Zone gameplay mechanic to the Sword and Shield series for the first time, promising “to shake up the Pokémon TCG metagame.” It is similar to the discard pile but you will be unable to recover these cards during gameplay. Lost Zone cards like Giratina VSTAR will also have a shadowy aura emanating from the artwork.

Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield – Lost Origin will be based on Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and will add more Hisuian Pokémon – like Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR and Hisuian Goodra VSTAR – and Radian Pokémon such as Radiant Gardevoir. These Radiant Pokémon cards have a Shiny Pokémon illustrated in etched artwork and tend to have a powerful Ability or attack.

The expansion will include three new Radiant Pokémon, six Pokémon VSTAR, 14 Pokémon V, one Pokémon VMAX and 30 cards with artwork that features “fan-favourite Trainers and Pokémon in the Trainer Gallery subset.”

The Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield – Lost Origin expansion will release at retailers worldwide on 9th September 2022.
