The Pokémon Company International has confirmed a release date for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Mega Evolution – Pitch Black expansion.
This latest expansion will introduce Mega Evolution Pokémon that were featured in the Mega Dimension downloadable content for Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
“Trainers can discover new cards, including Mega Darkrai ex, which emerges from the shadows with commanding presence, and Mega Zeraora ex, which strikes back with electrifying power,” The Pokémon Company International explain in a press release. “The expansion also features Mega Chandelure ex and Mega Excadrill ex, each bringing dynamic strategies and powerful battles to the forefront.”
The expansion will include six Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, four Pokémon ex, 11 illustration rare Pokémon, 18 ultra rare Pokémon and Trainer cards, and six special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards.
Pre-release tournaments held as part of the Play! Pokémon program will start from 4 July 2026 at participating retailers, and will provide the opportunity to play with the Mega Evolution – Pitch Black expansion before launch.
The expansion will also be made available digitally through the Pokémon TCG Live app from 16 July 2026. Players can collect and battle with new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and receive in-game bonuses when logging in to the game.
The Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution – Pitch Black expansion will be released at participating retailers worldwide on 17 July 2026.
