Pokémon Snap Sequel Would Require “Very Unique Twist”

It has been 20 years Pokémon Snap was released for the Nintendo 64, but that hasn’t lessened demand for The Pokémon Company to produce a sequel.

The snap-tastic first-person rail photography simulation challenged players to take good quality photographs of Pokémon in their natural habitats.

Points were then awarded based on the Pokémon’s pose, whether it filled the photo, if it was centred, and whether there were other Pokémon in the background.

However, it never received a sequel. The closest that we got was the Poké Finder feature in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.

Now with Nintendo Labo VR and, even more so, the Toy-Con Camera, it seems like the perfect opportunity for Pokémon Snap to return.

It still seems unlikely, though When asked about the likelihood of it happening at E3 2019, Game Freak director Junichi Masuda responded to Metro: “[laughs] All I can say is that I don’t think we can just make the same thing again. So we’d have to come up with a very unique twist on this if we do make another one.”
