Nintendo of America has revealed that Pokémon Snap will release on the Wii U Virtual Console service in North America this week.

The snap-tastic Nintendo 64 first-person rail photography simulation was developed by HAL Laboratory and Pax Softnica, and sends players on a safari tour around Pokémon Island after Professor Oak requests that you help him with his research.

This requires that players take good quality photographs of Pokémon in their natural habitats, with points awarded based on the Pokémon’s pose, whether it filled the photo, if it was centred, and whether there were other Pokémon in the background.

Pokémon Snap will be available on the Virtual Console service in North America tomorrow, priced at $9.99. The game will be compatible with the Wii U GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Remote, Wii Remote Plus, and Wii Remote + Classic Controller combo. Phew.
