Nintendo has announced that Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet sales have surpassed 20.61 million copies in the seven weeks since their worldwide launch.

“Among the new titles released this fiscal year, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, released last November, got off to the fastest start of any title for a Nintendo dedicated video game platform,” Nintendo shared in its Financial Results Explanatory Material. “Sales of the titles have continued to grow, resulting in cumulative global sell-through of over 18 million units in the first seven weeks since its release.”

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet promised to “take a new evolutionary step in the Pokémon main series,” with players offered the chance to “explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness.” You will see Pokémon everywhere in this “wide-open world,” whether in the skies, in the sea, or on the streets.

You will start your adventure in the Paldea region, which is described as being “a land of vast open spaces dotted with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, and mountain ranges.” There are lots of people and Pokémon living together in a variety of locations, such as “a farming village with bountiful harvests to a port town with a bustling marketplace.” Pokémon also call treetops, rivers, and other locations in the wilderness their homes.

At the heart of the Paldea region is its largest city, Mesagoza. It is here that you will find either Naranja Academy or Uva Academy, with their name, emblem and uniforms differing depending on whether you choose to play Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet.

The Pokédex will be loaded on your Rotom Phone as an app, as well as a map app that will let you see the entire Paldea region, your current location and information like nearby towns, Pokémon Centers and wild Pokémon.

After their release, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be able to link with Pokémon HOME, a service that allows you to keep your entire Pokémon collection in one place. By linking these games with Pokémon HOME, you will be able to have Pokémon from other regions adventure alongside them in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are now available at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
