Nintendo has confirmed that a free software update for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will deliver improved frame rate and image quality on Nintendo Switch 2.
With the update to be available alongside the portable home console successor’s launch, the company states that the frame rate has been “improved for smoother movement on Nintendo Switch 2,” whereas the visuals have been “optimised for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs for improved image quality.”
Having now sold 26.79 million copies to become the best-selling Pokémon games on Nintendo Switch, while their open world gameplay met with some praise, the games were heavily criticised for their poor technical and graphical performance.
Nintendo Switch 2 will be released at retailers around the world on 5 June 2025, priced at £395.99 in the United Kingdom, €469.99 across Europe, and $449.99 in the United States.
