Pokémon Red Recreated In Minecraft

Ever the playground for unleashing your creativity, Pokémon Red has been recreated in Minecraft.

Work on the recreation started in July 2015 and took Mr. Squishy 21 months to complete, and was achieved using 357,000 command blocks and a resource pack.

He worked hard to incorporate all of the original game’s features and iconic bugs, such as MissingNo and item duplication, but chose not to add sound after worrying that it would result in “too many desynch issues distracting from the game itself.”

As to why he chose to pursue the idea, Mr. Squishy replied: “My answer is simple: I love pushing the boundaries of the game.

“Minecraft really shouldn’t be able to run Pokemon Red – it’s a 3D game about building and surviving – but the fact that it can excites me. It truly shows that if you can dream it, you can make it.”
