Pokémon Prism Cancelled After Nintendo Deliver Cease And Desist Letter

In entirely expected news, Pokémon Prism developers Nsomniart and TPP Devs have announced that the project has been pulled after Nintendo sent them a cease and desist letter.

The Pokémon Gold ROM hack acted as a sequel to the team’s previous effort, Pokémon Brown. It had promised to transport players to the Naljo region, where, as the son (or daughter) of Elite Four champion Lance, they could capture 252 Pokémon that would have spanned four generations.

With new Wood, Gas, Wind, Abnormal, and Sound Pokémon types, three new moves, several new items, and a new TM and HM set, the hack was certainly promising, but in the end, Nintendo has rightly moved to protect their intellectual property.

“Nintendo understands that you are a fan of its original products and its Pokémon franchise,” the letter reads. “Whilst this is appreciated, it unfortunately does not alter Nintendo’s important role to ensure that all of its valuable intellectual property is fully protected and that there is no use made of any of its intellectual property rights without proper supervision and authorisation.”

Nintendo has asked that Pokémon Prism not be released as a download, that all work on the project cease, and that the team remove access to all downloadable files for their previous Pokémon Brown and Pokémon Rijon Adventures projects to resolve the situation.

    1. Haha, seriously?

So if you invented something that would make you millions, too it to a manufacturer and they just said thanks, stole your idea and cut you out I assume you’d be cool with that too?

This is the whole reason Patents, trade marks and registrations exist, to protect intellectual property from theft.

      1. Ok I would be fine with that as it lets out their creativity and if I were to put a price on it i would give 99% of the funds to the original manufacturer
