After defeating Brock in Pewter City and making your way through Mt. Moon in Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee!, you will have the chance to choose between the Dome Fossil and Helix Fossil.
Super Nerd Miguel will first challenge you to a battle – he has a Level 10 Voltorb and a Level 10 Magnemite – and, once defeated, he will agree to share one of the fossils that he has found with you.
This one-time choice will determine which Pokémon you will receive when the fossil is revived at the Cinnabar Lab on Cinnabar Island. The Dome Fossil will revive Kabuto (which evolves into Kabutops at Level 40) and the Helix Fossil revives Omanyte (which evolves into Omastar at Level 40).
If you were wondering which of these is the better choice, Kabutops has a stronger Attack and faster Speed stats than Omastar, which, comparatively, has better Defense, HP and Sp. Atk.
When you do wander into the Cinnabar Lab (which is next to the Pokémon Center), remember that you can also revive the Old Amber into Aerodactyl. This can be found behind the Pewter City Museum of Science after removing the tree that’s blocking your way with the Secret Technique, Chop Down.
