Your goal in Pokémon Legends: Arceus may be to complete the Hisui region’s first-ever Pokédex, but that doesn’t mean that Game Freak hasn’t looked to challenge you in other ways. One of those is Uxie’s Trial, which poses a question that you will be faced with late in the game’s main storyline.

After defeating an Alpha Zoroark that has been filled with wild might inside the cavern at Lake Acuity, Uxie will appear and share its desire to test your knowledge.

The mysterious Knowledge Pokémon will ask: “Come. I will test your knowledge. Combee. Zubat. Unown. Magneton. Dusclops. How many are their eyes? Tell me each, one by one yet all at once. Answer me.”

The question is asked in a peculiar way, but the answer is much simpler to deduce than you may think. Uxie is essentially asking how many eyes each of the five Pokémon has, with the answer that it seeks being a string of five numbers.

The honeycomb-inspired Combee has six eyes; Zubat has no eyes as it moves around using echolocation; the alphabet-like Unown has one eye; Magneton has three eyes; and the mummified Dusclops has one eye. That means that the answer for the Uxie Trial that you need to give to complete the Knowledge Pokémon’s challenge is 60131.

Enter the correct answer and you will be rewarded with Uxie’s Claw, a piece of the spirit needed to bind the world once more: “Proof that you have completed the trial set by Uxie, the Being of Knowledge that lives in Lake Acuity.” It is one of the three key items required to forge the Red Chain.

I wouldn’t worry if this puzzle was something that had initially stumped you. This is easily the trickiest trial that the three Lake Guardians will pose to you in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, as your encounters with both Mesprit and Azelf are much more straightforward to overcome.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is now available exclusively at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
