Niantic has released a new software update for Pokémon GO on iOS devices, their background tinkering bringing the augmented reality app to version 1.7.0.
This introduces Buddy Pokémon, a new feature that lets you earn Candy for a chosen Pokémon by walking a certain distance. It also adds support for Pokémon GO Plus which sees release next week, as well as addressing bugs.
Niantic is also continuing their efforts to eliminate bots and scrapers, and reiterate that rooted or jailbroken devices are not supported.
