After multiple delays, Nintendo has announced that the Pokémon GO Plus accessory will release worldwide on September 16th.

The small wearable device lets players interact with Pokémon GO without needing to look at their smartphone, connecting to iOS and Android devices via Bluetooth low energy.

When a Pokémon is near the device will vibrate and the LED will flash green, at which points players can press the button on the device to throw a Poké Ball. If successfully caught, Pokémon GO Plus will flash and vibrate.

The device will also flash blue and vibrate when players are in range of a nearby PokéStop, tapping the button allowing players to collect items.

There are some restrictions, however, in that Pokémon GO Plus cannot alert players to any Pokémon attracted by the in-game Incense item, nor will it track distance walked when the app is running in the background.

The Pokémon GO Plus is available to order from the Nintendo Official UK Store, and will become available elsewhere at a later date.

Pokémon GO Plus is compatible with the following operating systems:

iOS

Compatible OS versions: iOS 8 – 9
Compatible with: iPhone 5/5c/5s/SE/6/6s/6 Plus/6s Plus

Android

Compatible OS versions: Android 4.4 – 6.0
Compatible with: Android 4.4 or higher that have Bluetooth® Smart(Bluetooth v4.0 or higher) capability and RAM2GB or more.
