Niantic’s constant efforts to maintain player interest in Pokémon GO continue to be a success, with the location-based game recording strong revenue and downloads in September.

Sensor Tower‘s Store Intelligence estimates that the app managed to score $84.8 million gross revenue for the month, which is the highest that it has achieved since November 2017 – marking a 15 percent month-on-month increase, and a 89 percent year-on-year boost compared with September 2017.

That saw it rank number 4 among all apps based on revenue, with estimates that it has made $2.01 billion worldwide in gross revenue since it first launched. It also received an additional 8.86 million downloads worldwide last month, meaning that the current tally is that it has been downloaded more than 522 million times.

September had been a big month for Pokémon GO, not only running the Moltres Day and Ultra Bonus events, the monthly Community Day and Deoxys becoming available in EX Raids, but allowing the developer the chance to tease and then reveal the new Mythical Pokémon, Meltan.
