After teasing us with Baby Pokémon, Pokémon GO will expand this week with 80 new Pokémon plucked from the Johto region.
These were originally discovered in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver, and will include starter Pokémon Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile. These will be encountered in the wild as players explore their surroundings.
The update will also introduce new gameplay mechanics such as new encounter gameplay, new Evolution items, two new Berries, and expanded outfit and accessory options for Trainer avatars.
New Pokémon evolution options will see players able to use new Evolution items to evolve their Pokémon and, while catching Pokémon, Trainers can use two new Berries. The Nanab Berry slows a Pokémon’s movements while the Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy received if the next catch attempt succeeds.
There are new hats, shirts, trousers and other items to customise your avatar’s appearance, with more items available to purchase from the in-game Pokémon GO shop.
