The Pokémon Company has warned fans to keep clear of the numerous Pokémon GO beta sign-up websites that are beginning to increasingly appearing online.

Going as far as to post a two-sentence news article on the official Pokémon website, they clarify that no announcement has been made regarding a beta test and that any new information would always be shared on the official Pokémon GO website.

The augmented reality application is confirmed to launch in early 2016, with a closed beta having taken place this winter. Scammers have used the excitement surrounding the project to lure fans on to fake sign-up pages, in an attempt for them to unknowingly provide their contact details.

We know that Niantic CEO John Hanke will speak at a scheduled session at GDC 2016, called Catch ‘Em All: Pokémon GO and Real World Gaming. Attendees will enjoy an in-depth look at how players will interact and explore the world with one another in the application.

Game Developers Conference 2016 will be held between 14th – 18th March 2016, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
