As with all of the other mainline Pokémon games, both Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl each have exclusive pocket monsters that can only be caught in each version.
This is the main difference between each game, an approach that has long been used to encourage players to buy a different version to their friends or family members – or for many to buy both copies of the game – so that they can trade whichever Pokémon they are unable to catch with others.
