Confirmed for a Japan release last week, Nintendo have today announced that they will launch Pokémon Art Academy across Europe and North America this year.

A friendly tutor will guide players through 40 lessons that will teach you how to paint, sketch, and draw their favourite characters, including Pikachu, Oshawott, Charizard, Torchic, Fletchling and Fennekin. Aspiring illustrators will learn skills across four different levels of lesson, taking you through Starter, Novice, Apprentice, and Graduate courses in an effort to hone your artistic talent. Colouring techniques will slowly be introduced as you advance, with shading, shadow and depth helping to bring drawings to life.

Free Paint mode will allow you more freedom over your creative pursuits, images taken with the 3DS Camera available to be imported into the game as a guideline. Whilst a new Quick Sketch mode will be a perfect opportunity to practice whilst out and about. All creations can be saved to an album, your best then being able to shared locally or directly onto Miiverse.

Pokémon Art Academy will release across Europe on July 4th, and in North America later this year.
