27th February 2016 will mark 20 years since the first Pokémon games launched in Japan, and The Pokémon Company International will be celebrating the occasion with year long festivities.

Over the two decades since Game Boy’s Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green first saw release, the brand has become enormously successful. More than 275 million copies of Pokémon video games have been sold worldwide, 21.5 billion TCG cards have been shipped to 74 countries in 11 languages, and the animated TV show has passed over 800 episodes spread across 18 seasons, and that popularity doesn’t show any signs of slowing.

The Pokémon Company International has plenty of plans for their year-long celebrations, and will kick things off with a new TV commercial that will air during the US Super Bowl 50 on Sunday 7th February.

We’re expecting it to be a nostalgic trip, but will share as soon as it appears online!
