Nintendo UK has announced that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for Nintendo Switch will be playable for the first time at Insomnia62 this weekend.

You will be able to try out the new Funky Mode, which lets you play as Funky Kong who can double jump, hover, perform infinite rolls, and, because he rides his sturdy surfboard, even spikes won’t slow him down.

It’s not the only Nintendo Switch game that will be playable, either, seeing as it will be joined by Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, ARMS, Pokkén Tournament DX, FIFA 18, Rocket League, and Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition.

Nintendo will also host daily tournaments for Splatoon 2, ARMS, Pokkén Tournament DX, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which you can sign up to at the event on the day – with prizes up for grabs in the finals that will be held on the Nintendo stage.

The Splatoon European Championship semi-finals and final will also be shown, as well as the Off the Hook virtual concert, and there will be a Bring Your Own Console area where you can hang out with other Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS owners.

Insomnia62 will take place from Friday 30th March – Monday 2nd April at the NEC Birmingham.
