PlatinumGames Want The Wonderful 101 On Nintendo Switch

PlatinumGames has already teased The Wonderful 101 on Nintendo Switch, but, as we approach nearly a year on from that obvious hint, they have become more vocal in wanting to make it happen.

At their “Beyond the Climax: Taking action towards the future” talk at Reboot Develop 2018, Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya had asked who in the audience had played the Wii U exclusive, with the translator explaining:

“We’re going to knock the audience participation up a bit. They’re still trying to negotiate with Nintendo whether a possible [The] Wonderful 101 Switch release could happen, but it always helps when the people in the audience at Reboot clap if they’d actually buy a Switch version of [The] Wonderful 101. So, anybody who would buy that, please clap…” After which, the whole room clapped.

Then, speaking to Eurogamer in an interview after the talk about how their conversations with Nintendo have progressed, Inaba, through a translator, added:

“From their perspective obviously there are things they can’t talk about, about dealings they have with Nintendo. Certainly, they can say everything they said during the speech, which was, ‘Hey, we should do that.’ But whether that is a ‘we are going to do that’, and what the likelihood is of that happening, is just going to have to be something you wait to find out.”

The Wonderful 101 has long remained one of my favourite games to have released on Wii U, an opinion that you would have more than likely gathered from reading our The Wonderful 101 review. But, despite positive scores across the board, the game went on to sell relatively poorly.
