Chorus Worldwide Games and LCB Game Studio have revealed that Mothmen 1966 will release on Nintendo Switch.

This is the developer’s first visual novel in a series that takes inspiration from mid-20th Century pulp fiction and ’80s home computer graphics.

Every November, the Leonid Meteor Shower lights up the sky in a spectacular astrological display. However, the shower in ’66 brought something else with it.

You will have the chance to follow young lovers Lee and Victoria, local gas station owner Holt and paranormal investigator Lou, as they “encounter a conspiracy with horrifying implications.”

With the line between scientific fact and science fiction now blurred, men in black lurk in the shadows while red eyes glare through the darkened woods. Lou believes those red eyes may belong to the Mothmen that he is researching.

Created with Choose Your Own Adventure-inspired gameplay “punctuated” with puzzles, you must help the group survive across eleven chapters where the choices that you make that lead to death provide only a temporary setback.

“When we first saw Mothmen 1966, we immediately fell in love with the aesthetic and the writing and knew we had to work with LCB Game Studio,” said Shintaro Kanaoya, founder and CEO of Chorus Worldwide. “What they’re doing with interactive fiction is nostalgic yet appealing and accessible to modern audiences. We’re very excited to be bringing Mothmen 1966 to fans of narrative games everywhere in July.”

LCB Game Studio writer and co-founder Nico Saraintaris adds: “We want our games to be the pulps of interactive fiction. Chorus Worldwide is the perfect partner for us. We share the same interests in interactive fiction, puzzles, and experimentation.”

Mothmen 1966 will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 14th July 2022.
