As part of today’s Nintendo Direct, global president Satoru Iwata revealed the company’s plans to support Pikmin 3 with downloadable content.

Downloading the latest software update will improve the game’s Global Ranking feature, whilst also providing an add-on mission stage entirely free of charge.

It also activates the ability to purchase downloadable content packs through the Nintendo eShop, which serve to expand the Wii U exclusive’s Mission Mode. Conveniently, alongside the announcement, the first “Collect Treasure” stage pack is now available, with more hitting the digital store down the line.

For those yet to pick up the game, be sure to catch our Pikmin 3 review.
