The Pokémon Company International and Game Freak have revealed that you can receive a special in-game Pikachu as an early-purchase bonus for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

This special Pikachu cannot be obtained through regular gameplay, and has two unique characteristics in that it knows the move Fly – which it cannot normally learn – and its Tera Type is Flying. The Terastal phenomenon is a new gameplay mechanic that is unique to the Paldea region.

You will be able to receive this special gift by choosing Get via Internet from the Mystery Gift feature in your game, which will take “approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of play time” before you can access it. You won’t need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to obtain it, but the special Pikachu will only be available until Tuesday 28th February 2023.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. are promised to “take a new evolutionary step in the Pokémon main series,” with players offered the chance to “explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness.” You will see Pokémon everywhere in this “wide-open world,” whether in the skies, in the sea, or on the streets.

You will start your adventure in the Paldea region, which is described as being “a land of vast open spaces dotted with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, and mountain ranges.” There are lots of people and Pokémon living together in a variety of locations, such as “a farming village with bountiful harvests to a port town with a bustling marketplace.” Pokémon also call treetops, rivers, and other locations in the wilderness their homes.

At the heart of the Paldea region is its largest city, Mesagoza. It is here that you will find either Naranja Academy or Uva Academy, with their name, emblem and uniforms differing depending on whether you choose to play Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet.
The Pokédex will be loaded on your Rotom Phone as an app, as well as a map app that will let you see the entire Paldea region, your current location and information like nearby towns, Pokémon Centers and wild Pokémon.

After their release, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be able to link with Pokémon HOME, a service that allows you to keep your entire Pokémon collection in one place. By linking these games with Pokémon HOME, you will be able to have Pokémon from other regions adventure alongside them in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 18th November 2022.
