Pictionary Universe revealed as a cancelled Wii U project

The classic game of quick draw had reportedly been in development for Wii U, Pictionary Universe having been revealed as another cancelled project to be flung onto the scrapheap.

The project’s existence, and disappointing demise, emerged through the LinkedIn profile of gameplay engineer Brian Valdillez, who shares that his involvement saw that he “implemented rudimentary drawing functionality with recording and replay capabilities designed for uploading to Miiverse.”

It certainly sounds intriguing and as to why it was canned is unclear, WayForward having moved on to work on titles such as DuckTales Remastered, Smurfs 2, and Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I Don’t Know!

  1. Wow. Disappointing. Pictionary would have been an excellent fit for the Wii U. I would have gotten this for when my Mom comes over, Pictionary was always her favorite board game. Actually, it sounds like it might have had online play which means I could have played it with her even when she didn’t come over.
