ATLUS has released a software update for Persona 3 Reload on Nintendo Switch 2, which now sees the game on version 1.03.
The developer states that this patch “improves performance with a targeted 60 FPS Performance Mode (only available in TV Mode) and boosts frame rate stability across all other modes for a better overall player experience.”
Digital Foundry‘s Oliver Mackenzie has put the game’s update under a microscope, concluding: “Patch 1.03, I think at least, is a corrective that brings the game back into a reasonable shape, because the awful frame pacing is fixed, which makes the game infinitely more playable in my view.
“It’s a version of the game that I can probably recommend with certain key caveats, but it’s not the kind of carefully tailored Switch 2 release that we’d like to see on the platform. It’s not a game that takes advantage of DLSS and a discrete porting process to resolve issues we might have seen on hardware that’s otherwise somewhat comparable, like last-gen console systems.”
In this reimagining of the genre-defining RPG, you step into the shoes of a transfer student who soon becomes thrust into an unexpected fate when they enter the Dark Hour, which is hidden between one day and the next. After awakening an incredible power, you must chase the mysteries surrounding Tartarus, fight alongside your friends and leave a mark that will last in their memories forever.
Persona 3 Reload is now available at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide.
