Performing tricks galore in Mario Kart 8

Performing tricks has become a necessity of the modern day Mario Kart experience, ever since the mechanic was first introduced in 2008’s Mario Kart Wii.

That hasn’t changed in Mario Kart 8 either, players slamming the ZR Button when jumping from ramps and similar objects to reward themselves with a Jump Boost that will help keep them in the lead.

It’s not only a method of easing victories, but also an opportunity for Nintendo to dazzle us with some rather impressive character animations that add a playful spin on proceedings. With races so blisteringly intense, it’s sometimes hard to marvel at just how ridiculously intricate they are. So, we’ve compiled some of our favourites in the reel below to give you an idea ahead of launch, courtesy of Mario Kart TV.

Mario Kart 8 releases for Wii U across Europe and North America on May 30th.
