Performing tricks has become a necessity of the modern day Mario Kart experience, ever since the mechanic was first introduced in 2008’s Mario Kart Wii.
That hasn’t changed in Mario Kart 8 either, players slamming the ZR Button when jumping from ramps and similar objects to reward themselves with a Jump Boost that will help keep them in the lead.
It’s not only a method of easing victories, but also an opportunity for Nintendo to dazzle us with some rather impressive character animations that add a playful spin on proceedings. With races so blisteringly intense, it’s sometimes hard to marvel at just how ridiculously intricate they are.
