Freedom! Games and BitBull have announced that Jetboard Joust will release on Nintendo Switch next year.

This sequel to 1989’s ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, and Amstrad CPC game Skateboard Joust, this is pitched as “a joyous fusion of classic arcade shoot-’em-ups and modern roguelikes.”

You will be challenged to soar around procedurally-generated circular arenas on a levitating jetboard, determined to defend civilians from intergalactic invaders.

After dogfighting the alien armadas, you will be faced with a challenging guardian that remains as the final obstacle between you and a treasure trove of loot.

To survive you will need to juggle weapon condition, ammo count and your shields, using the coins that you earn to buy weapon and jetboard upgrades or extra lives.

Jetboard Joust will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2021.
