The Pokémon Company and Game Freak have revealed Surprise Trade as a feature on the Y-Comm menu in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.
This will see you select a Pokémon from any of your Boxes that you want to trade, and a trading partner will automatically be found as you continue your adventure.
If you are using the internet, these trades can be carried out with players from around the world. Whereas, if you are using local communication, it will be with someone near you.
You won’t know which Pokémon you will get in exchange for your Pokémon until you actually receive it.
A Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to participate in Link Trades and Link Battles using the internet, but is not needed for local communication use.
In Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, you will choose between three starter Pokémon – Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble – before having the chance to explore the Galar region – with its idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. Challenging the Gyms in the region, you will once again look to become Champion.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 15th.
