Thunderful and Space Lizard Studio have confirmed a release date for Paper Cut Mansion on Nintendo Switch.

This roguelite horror game is “set in a unique handcrafted world made of cardboard,” in which you play as Toby, a police detective who arrives at the eponymous old mansion.

Your detective skills will be put to the test as you work to unravel the mystery behind the bizarre location, with each run presenting the chance to collect another piece of evidence to be tacked on to your Evidence Board. The characters that you meet along the way may help or hinder you – some offering quests that earn you helpful rewards while others will hide or are out to get you.

Each procedurally-generated run can see you unlock new abilities and discover new equipment, with a dimension-hopping mechanic letting you leap between alternate versions of the same location. That’s something that you’ll need to do to overcome enemies, gather clues, uncover secrets, secure loot and solve logic puzzles throughout the mansion.

The game’s textures have been hand-drawn on paper, scanned into a computer and then modelled into 3D papercraft, resulting in its unique aesthetic.

“After launching on PC and Xbox, our small team has been working hard to get the game ready for PlayStation and Switch players,” explains Space Lizard Studio lead designer Gabriele Caruso. “I’m delighted that we’re drawing close to finally letting players on those platforms loose in the mansion on December 5th!”

Paper Cut Mansion will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 5th December 2022.
