Pachter: Wii U won’t be as popular as Nintendo expects

Wedbush Morgan Securities video game analyst Michael Pachter has expressed his belief that the Wii U won’t be as popular as Nintendo expect, citing his previous statement that they’ve released it a few years too late.

Within the latest episode of Pach Attack, he was questioned as to his thoughts whether he felt that Nintendo were to “Dreamcast” themselves in the next generation by releasing the Wii U too early.

“I don’t think that this is a premature console”, Pachter began. “I think that this is a really late-term console, that should have been born two or three years ago.

“I invite you guys to do a quick Google search on ‘Wii 2’ and ‘Pachter’. I was calling for it in 2009, and then that didn’t happen. So, I was calling for it in 2010, and that didn’t happen. So now we’re looking at 2012. Wow, two or three years late, not premature. Bad call there”.

He continues, “The reason that you’re saying that it’s premature, I think you’re really trying to suggest that it’s not going to sell well. I think that if in fact it’s a lot like an Xbox 360 in terms of graphics, frame rate and control scheme, then it’s probably not going to sell well unless it’s priced a lot cheaper, and I don’t think they’re launching the console at $150.

“So, yeah I think they are about to Dreamcast themselves. I don’t think the Wii U is going to be as popular as probably Nintendo thinks it’s going to be. Question is, what does Nintendo do next, and I don’t know the answer yet. Let’s see how the Wii U sells, and I’m not going to predict this demise until I know pricing and features. When I know more about it, I’ll offer a better opinion”.

and yet he did offer an opinion which is why hes a hypocritical nincompoop

  2. I can not understand how anyone of good sense, being a player or a shareholder may still give credit for that big idiot who talked a lot of crap on the Wii on the DS, on the 3DS and missed on all . It’s time the HR of the company where he works send him into space and make a lot of gamers happy. That’s my prediction, hehehehe and it’s late.
