Research performed by Nintendo of Europe has revealed that a total of 73.2 million Mii characters have been created on Wii across the region – a figure higher than the combined population of France, the United Kingdom and Italy or more than Spain and The Netherlands combined.

Further to this, the worldwide Mii population has reached an impressive 213.8 million which, if they were to all form a country, would amount to the fifth largest population in the world. The European Mii population of 73.2 million itself – comprising of 37.2 million male and 36 million female characters – is also equivalent to being the second largest country in Europe after Germany.

The Nintendo 3DS’ Mii Maker application will surely expand upon this as the handheld’s popularity continues to surge.

“Our research shows that Europeans clearly enjoy playing with their Mii characters”, Laurent Fischer, Managing Director of Marketing & PR at Nintendo of Europe, commented. “With Mii Maker and StreetPass Mii Plaza features on Nintendo 3DS, more people will be able to enjoy the experience of creating and sharing their own Mii characters.”
