Kepler Interactive and Shapefarm have confirmed a summer release window for their intergalactic co-op puzzle adventure Orbitals, which is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2.

Set in a retro anime galaxy, in Orbitals, you play as inseparable explorers Maki and Omura who have a whole lot more determination than they have on-the-job experience.

They must brave the perils of space to save their crumbling home from the dangers of a supernatural cosmic storm. Whether using unique tools to open the path forward, piloting their spaceship through dangerous asteroid fields or soaking up the “lavish” anime-inspired atmosphere, you will forge new bonds as friends together.

The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5, and you can choose to team up with two pairs of Joy-Con 2 controllers on a single Nintendo Switch 2 for split-screen local co-op, using the system’s GameShare feature to share Orbitals with another local player on a compatible Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch device, or by matchmaking online with their friends and taking advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2’s built-in microphone and GameChat to communicate.

In a new gameplay trailer, we see how Maki and Omura must use tools to solve puzzles and unlock the route ahead, which include:

  • The Beam Cannon: Unleash a highly-concentrated stream of intense heat to destroy obstacles and even melt metal obstacles
  • The Scrap Hook: Grapple and move platforms with ease, creating new routes for your partner to leap to
  • The Liquid Launcher: Blast a stream of pressured water to activate far-off mechanisms and cool down hot surfaces

Orbitals will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide in Summer 2026.
