Capcom has shared a new trailer for Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, in which it has outlined the new features that have been added to the remastered PlayStation 2 classic on Nintendo Switch.
This straight sequel to Onimusha: Warlords went on to sell 2.1 million copies around the world to become the best-selling entry in the series.
It stars new protagonist Jubei Yagyu in a tale of revenge, whose character model is based on the late Yusaku Matsuda – a Japanese actor who became famous in the 1980s.
This new and enhanced version retains the setting and gameplay systems of the original game but delivers new features and quality-of-life improvements to modern consoles.
The publisher has outlined the game’s new features, which include:
- New Gallery mode where you can view over 100 sketches by the game’s character designer, Keita Amemiya.
- New digital soundtrack selection with all 43 tracks from the original soundtrack of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny.
- Hell mode difficulty (game over after taking one strike).
- The Man in Black, Team Oni, and Puzzle Phantom Realm mini games will be available to play at the very beginning.
- Auto-save feature and easy weapon switch for improved playability.
Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 23 May 2025.
